Cutler Ridge Soccer not only recognizes excellence in team play on the pitch, but those athletes that excel in the classroom as well. This month CRS would like to honor one of our student athletes, Kevin Yulkowski in recognition of his academic excellence and demonstrated leadership on and off the field. Kevin was one of only two students at Airbase K-8 Center to win the Trailblazer Award. Kevin epitomizes the model student by having the attributes of: self-discipline, patience, as well as, commitment toward academic excellence. Kevin was honored by his principal for being a focused and empathetic, young man who mentors students of all ages and never declines any request or task assigned to him.
Kevin was identified as having a very compassionate, effervescent personality for which his peers and educators alike, find his pleasant demeanor welcoming and come to him for answers and clarity in learning new information. He has proven his leadership serving as our EESAC liaison, in addition to, serving as the Vice-President of the ABK-8 National Junior Honor Society. Kevin and his family have supported, if not sustained many integral initiatives of the Airbase K-8 magnet program to include: Family Fundraising Days, Beautification Days, and Career Education Fairs.
Nancy Wrright,a teacher at Airbase K-8 and Academic Chairperson said "Kevin’s strong work ethic, empathy, and general positive attitude made him a perfect candidate for our Trailblazer Award, with the understanding that, “The hope of a secure and livable world lies with disciplined nonconformists who are dedicated to justice, peace and brotherhood.” – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."
